FAQ

Q. What is the Instigatorzine?
A. The Instigatorzine is a zine started by Keith Chiappone and Narciso Espiritu Jr. in February of 2010. The zine focuses on the exposure of writers and artists to promote all genres and styles.

Q. Is there any payment if my material appears in the zine?
A. Payment is made in exposure and the opportunity to read your material aloud in our readings. We sell the zine at the lowest price possible in order for us to cover the expense of printing.
Q. Is this zine available as a hard copy?
A. Yes. The zine is primarily offered on actual paper. The Instigatorzine staff feels very strongly that the physical existence of literature and art is extremely important in the respective fields. We offer PDFs for those who would like a digital copy.
Q. I want to place an ad in your zine. How do I pay?
A. There are two ways this can be done. One option is to make the payment in person. The other option is to arrange a transaction through PayPal.
Q. How is material chosen for the zine?
A. Instigatorzine implements the democratic process. Although there is a heirarchy, not one person can make an absolute decision. Each month the Instigatorzine team gathers to read the submissions and cast votes to decide what goes in. These meetings occur the night after each deadline over pizza, soda, coffee, and hurt feelings.
Q. I have a friend who is too shy to submit. Can I submit work for him/her?
A. You cannot submit another person’s work. If you feel he or she should submit, hold an intervention and convince him or her.
Q. What genres are you looking for?
A. We are looking for all imaginable genres. We currently accept prose, poetry, plays, essays, and artwork. We will not accept book reviews.
Q. I want to join the Instigatorzine team! What can I do?
A. Unfortunately we have no space available in our staff. However, e-mail us at questions@instigatorzine.com and we’ll figure out some way you can help.
Q. Do you have any association with that other magazine?
A. No.
